In order to enrich students' learning life, improve their application level of mathematical knowledge, fully stimulate students' learning potential and develop their thinking ability, our school held a math competition for Grade 7 and Grade 8 on the afternoon of 13th June, which not only comprehensively examined students’ basic knowledge and their ability to use knowledge, but also effectively evaluated students’ thinking level.
Specifically, more than 100 students from each grade participated in the competition, a great number of whom showcased excellent mathematical thinking ability and achieved brilliant results in the competition. Afterwards, Anqing Foreign Language School awarded the first, second and third prizes in Grade 7 and Grade 8 respectively. Additionally, the school issued certificates to the winning students and awarded medals to the students who won the first prizes, which greatly stimulated students' enthusiasm to learn mathematics, love mathematics and apply mathematics, and also promoted the improvement of the teaching level of the teachers with the Junior High Department in the meantime.
On the whole, the Junior High Department of our school holds such a mathematics competition every semester, which has formed the normalization of activities and the characteristic of mathematics. What’s more, in the conventional mathematics teaching work, the teachers have been encouraging students to think positively and give full play to their strengths. On the other hand, for students with math expertise, the teachers have developed a complete set of scientific and systematic guidance programs so that these students can apply their knowledge and pay attention to learning methods. Additionally, some students who are interested in mathematics can proceed in-depth study and form a good learning quality under the guidance of the teachers. More remarkably, excellent math scores and marvelous mathematical thinking have also helped these students in their life development.
